Troves are your target for Preserved Craniums; rare monsters add chances at Omens of Light. That gives your POE 2 Currency investment more than one way to pay off, but only if you prepare the maps for both rewards and keep enough Cryptic Keys on hand.

How Profitable Is the POE 2 Abyss Farm?

In one 35-map test, the main Abyss rewards included 10 Omens of Light, 21 Abyssal Echoes, six Craniums, four Ancient Ribs, four Jawbones, and five Kulocks Invitations. Those drops were valued at about 233 Divines, against roughly 33 Divines spent on maps and Tablets. At around 10 maps per hour, that works out to about 57 Divines per hour in estimated profit, before counting smaller drops. Treat it as a sample, not a target you should expect every session. Craniums were valued at about 13 Divines each in that test, and a price change alone could move the result substantially.

How Do You Farm Preserved Craniums in POE 2?

Build the run around Abyssal Troves. Preserved Craniums come from those chests, so rushing through an Abyss and judging it only by the monsters misses the main point of a Cranium-focused map. Look for rewarding Abyss Pits, follow through to their Troves, and bring Cryptic Keys: a key lets you open a Trove twice. The practical limit is your key supply. If you spend heavily to improve your maps but run out of keys halfway through the session, you can't get the full value from the chests you find.

Which Rarity Stats Matter for Abyss Rewards?

Separate chest rewards from monster drops when you prepare Waystones. For the Trove side, the tested approach favors Item Rarity on Waystones and Tablets; it does not count on character Item Rarity to do the same job for Abyssal chests. Monster Rarity supports the other half of the plan, where rare monsters and Abyssal Depths provide Omen opportunities. If Craniums are carrying the price of your run, favor the chest setup. If Omens of Light are selling better, give Monster Rarity more attention. You don't need to pretend both stats affect the same loot source.

What Waystones and Tablets Should You Use?

Start with Tier 15 maps if you want a less costly rotation. For a heavier investment, the tested recommendation uses corrupted Tier 15 or Tier 16 maps with roughly 60% or more Monster Rarity and at least 40% Item Rarity. That version asks more of your build as well as your budget, so check what you actually spend before judging the drops.

On two Abyss Tablets, prioritize the modifier that makes Abyss Pits twice as likely to contain rewards. A chance for Desecrated Currency is useful extra value, but it shouldn't distract you from improving Trove opportunities. Two-mod Tablets can keep the entry cost manageable; expensive three- or four-mod versions aren't required to try the loop. On City maps, a Delirium Tablet is an option if your clear speed holds up under the added monster pressure. Count its rewards separately so you can tell what the Abyss setup itself earned.

Which Atlas Effects Help Sustain the Farm?

Favor effects that produce more valuable chests and help replace Cryptic Keys. Trove Seekers supports the first goal by adding rare chest opportunities; the effect that lets Unique Monsters provide Cryptic Keys supports the second. Run your maps with both in mind: clear the Abyss encounters, open worthwhile Troves twice when you have the keys, and kill the rare monsters rather than treating them as scenery on the way to a chest. A loot filter that keeps Bones, Omens, currency, and other tradeable Abyss drops visible makes the final tally easier to trust.

Try the POE 2 Abyss setup over a batch of maps, then record Trove drops, Omen drops, keys used, and the cost of each map and Tablet. That will tell you whether your current prices and clear speed support the heavier setup.
